COLLABORATION WITH THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION

Pokmaswas Teluk Sumberkima

On September 7, 2023, a promising collaboration began with the environmental conservation organization 'Pokmaswas Teluk Sumberkima' in Singaraja, Bali. Our visit commenced with a warm welcome from the dedicated members of the organization, who kindly embraced us into their community. The collaboration was initiated to collectively advance the protection and sustainable management of the mangrove forests and coral reefs in the region.
The day of our visit was dedicated to exploring the mangrove forests, which play a crucial role in the ecological diversity and balance of the ecosystem. Members of Pokmaswas Teluk Sumberkima guided us through dense mangrove forests, providing detailed explanations of the various mangrove species found in the region. We were impressed not only by the biodiversity but also by the vital functions of these ecosystems.

During the tour, we gained insights into the propagation methods of mangroves. The organization showcased their efforts in propagating new mangrove trees and revitalizing existing mangrove forests. Particularly impressive was the overview of the successfully planted areas, which, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Pokmaswas Teluk Sumberkima, have become regenerating ecosystems.

Another focus of the day was the explanation of the diverse benefits that mangroves provide to nature. From stabilizing coastal areas to providing a safe habitat for a variety of animal and plant species, the importance of these ecosystems for environmental conservation was evident in the organization's explanations.

Recently, the promotion of coral reefs has also been a focus. The organization is actively involved in creating artificial reefs to compensate for the damage to natural reefs caused by environmental impacts and climate change. During a fascinating dive, we were shown the impressive artificial reefs, and their formation and maintenance were explained to us vividly.

During the dive, it became clear that the organization aims not only to restore coral reefs but also to sustainably cultivate corals in these artificial reefs. This approach not only contributes to the protection and preservation of the underwater world but also raises awareness of the urgency of protecting marine ecosystems.

Overall, our visit to Pokmaswas Teluk Sumberkima left a lasting impression of the organization's dedicated work in environmental conservation. The diverse measures for preserving mangrove forests and coral reefs demonstrate a comprehensive approach that considers ecological, social, and economic aspects equally. We are confident that the initiated cooperation represents a fruitful collaboration for the protection of these important ecosystems and will make a sustainable contribution to environmental conservation in the region.
